charleston

For our second beach vacation of the summer we traveled to Charleston, SC to spend the week with my parents and see my dear friend Owen get married. We joke that he was the only boy at my kindergarten birthday party, but that explains the length and depth of our friendship...I couldn't be more thrilled for him and his beautiful new wife.

My son was in seventh heaven with his papa and grandma, while Robert and I loved being able to head into downtown Charleston for a date night at a fabulous, amazing restaurant.

My dad loved matching with his favorite little guy at the rehearsal, and my son developed an obsession with bluegrass and more specifically the banjo:

Robert and his daddy went hunting for alligators at the reception:

Since it was a south carolina summer wedding, the men all wore seersucker...my son loved posing like his dad and papa:
Let's not forget our beach time too...we had some awesome time early in the mornings and then, my favorite time at the beach, post 5pm...Robert enjoyed the coolest fort on the beach shown here before it was attacked by several young children all hoping to play in his special fort built by dad:

A day to celebrate

I am so blessed to have such amazing men in my life to care for me and my son...

To my first amazing:

Thank you dad for loving me so well, for teaching what a parent should be and for caring for my son so deeply...i love you.

To my second amazing:
Babe, you light up my world and fill your son's with joy...thank you for who you are to us.

To my third amazing:
Bob, thank you for accepting me as your own, for teaching your son how to be a true man of the Lord and for loving our son so well.
ps. this photo is an oldie but a goodie...it explains so much of the Luck family:)

This is the life...

Two beaches plus a river trip in one month...exhausting for a mom in her third trimester? absolutely...but amazing and fun and totally worthwhile..

let's break them down a bit:

Beach #1--Luck Family beach week: We love going to the beach with the Lucks because we stay put, enjoy ourselves and Rob has a blast playing with his cousin Adelyn...and this year, spent the week being apprehensive of his new cousin Braden...boy, is he in for a rude awakening next month:)

We did some digging, some climbing, some burying and a bit of splashing in the surf...not to mention following Pop Rock around wherever he went!

Next up, and for another day...our trip to Charleston:)

We Love Lacrosse

We've been traveling a bunch and Robert's been busy busy busy with work....largely because we've been traveling so much, go figure:)

BUT I wanted to quickly give a shout out to the UVA Men's Lacrosse team who won the national championship this past week. Robert took time out from work to sit and watch the game with his favorite fan, and I snapped a few photos along the way:
Clearly after a goal:)

Intently watching their beloved Hoos:
Finally breaking out the "cheerleader", Robert loves to imitate his Uncle Will at every UVA-related opportunity!

easter egg extravaganza

yes, it's no longer even the same month as Easter...I'm aware, but we've been busy around the house and playing outside so forgive us and enjoy these easter pics:)

Our son dominated in not one, but two easter egg hunts this year...Daddy prepped him before hand reminding him first, to grab as many as possible and second to share with the other kids when it was clear that our son had "won" (I'm a little unsure as to what the future might look like for the Luck family and real sports)

It was cold and rainy, but we managed to still look adorable in the raincoat/boots combo...thanks grandma:)

Then came the blessed holiday itself, and clearly, that meant seersucker:

And a visit to Pop Rock and Grami's for our second Easter egg hunt with sweet Adelyn:

Robert was the over ambitious one, thankfully he just held her hand and didn't pull her along:

Then it was every kid for themselves and Robert didn't waste any time filling up Lightning with eggs...
action shot (he is his father's son)...
Then a quick finshing hug for his favorite, and until recently only, cousin...they are so cute together

Before heading inside for a bit of chocolate

a little different

Just in case I needed further confirmation that my sweet boy was ALL BOY and that his wonderful cousin Adelyn was ALL GIRL, this last weekend confirmed their differences...please note how my son approached his birthday cupcake and contrast that with how my adorable niece "attacked" the same one

and no, they aren't twins (clearly), but the brilliant blond hair combined with their mere five week age difference often confuses strangers when we're all together:)

Happy second birthday little man:)

Two short (and very long) years ago, our sweet son changed our lives forever...in every hard, wonderful, fantastic, and hilarious way possible. We are so proud of his accomplishments and the person that he is becoming already and cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for him next!

Let's take a walk down memory lane:

With his namesakes:

At six months..already showing his spirited personality:

Birthday #1 (notice the banner...it's important:)

At 14 months:

24 months:)
Birthday cake (although I couldn't frost it until just before eating...Grandma's buttercream icing is just too good and I figured my son wouldn't appreciate a half eaten cake!)...We were a little unsure, but quickly dove right in!

and the ever present banner (circa 1985...yes, my mom has kept the sweet banner since my sister and I's first years...we love it)
