reliving christmas number two

The Lucks christmas began late late on christmas day, when we arrived (some more bleary eyed than others) at their home after 11pm....but that didn't stop us from celebrating a second christmas morning the next day, and what a day it was!

first thing, Robert had to greet his favorite cousin Adelyn by getting up in her face to watch the snow together...because well, he loves he so much and she couldn't wait to see him either!

Then after opening a few presents it was time to head into town to RIDE THE TRAIN...now, my son has been talking about his adventure on the train for the last two weeks, and although a bit shy at first, the family train ride from Cville to Staunton certainly only served to fuel our passion for trains....

First things first, check the schedule to make sure we know when to get off, Adelyn clearly thinks he's a bit OCD, but he comes by it honestly, that's for sure:
Then, we calmed down and really enjoyed the ride!
After a nice nap and recovery time for mommy from that ride, it was time for presents! Robert got a special treat because his great grandparents, the Carltons, came by for a visit. Watching my little man play trucks with his Pop Pop Carlton was a blessing for us this christmas for sure:

Then, we played a little race cars with our new track from Aunt Emi and Uncle Steve....

By that time, our two little ones we completely tuckered out...but not so much that they still couldn't have a little fun while laying on the floor with their blankets...."Hey Rob, guess what, we get to wake up tomorrow and open more presents!"

And that we did...two full days of christmas the Lucks left our little family tired, yet well rested, full, yet craving more fudge and arriving back to richmond with a car full of things gifted to us from people we love...we are so lucky.

choo choo train present?

Christmas this year was an overwhelming, exciting and wonderful four days for us. We managed to squeeze in time with both sides of the family, extended included, and spend a little down time just the three of us also. We started out in FC, visiting my family, with our annual christmas eve spent with my dad's sister and her family. It's a great low key way to start a crazy holiday...especially for our little guy. Service at the Falls Church was just as fantastic as always, and leaving, one cannot help but feel the joy of the Lord and His birth.

I'm sad to report that we don't have a santa photo to share this year, my little guy didnt even make it into santa's house, let alone onto his chair! We progressed over the month of december from waving bye to santa to waving hello...but it didn't get much better than that unfortunately! That said, he totally got into the present part of Santa, but my sweet little guy embraced the spirit of giving...

here he is climbing over a mountain of gifts to find mommy's present (a new fancy upholstery stapler...thanks santa)

When it was finally time for him to start opening his presents, the first one was a thomas the train and let me tell you...the boy was happy. Every gift after that, he accepted the gift by asking the question "choo choo train present?" And thankfully...my parents did not disappoint:)

I share this last one because we found it hilarious...my son got a booster seat to transition out of his high chair and he loved it so much he put it on and started walking around...you'll notice the red sweater, also new, also with a train on it.

I'll save our time at the Lucks...the wonderful, relaxing time that it was, for another day....
