who loves it more

At a recent consignment binge, we picked up a very, very large package of track...I was mindful to pick up the right kind, as instructed by my dear husband..because, apparently, there IS a right and wrong kind of track for building the optimal train track extravaganza. Unfortunately, this mom isn't too skilled (yet, and hopefully soon) in the art that is train building, but since Robert spent much of his childhood with his brother, Steven, building up huge towns with train track, for now, we leave the building to the two Roberts...giving mom a chance to read blogs (and pretend to clean the house).

The interesting part was watching my husband try and "help" my son build the track...clearly trying to be patient with my son who wasn't exactly building the track according to daddy's grand plan specifications:) Fortunately, little Robert loves and adores his dad so much that he just played along and did as he was told...until he realizes he has his own ideas, which shouldn't be too far down the line for us!

Phase One: Robert is more interested in driving the train than helping build...

Phase Two: getting in on the action with some intense concentration thrown in....

Phase Three: complete!

Wonderfully, that was our Saturday afternoon in a nutshell....looking forward to many more...with apparently more bridges and hills and things in our future.

Luck of the Hoos

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd post a little blast from the past...

Although only a few years ago, our family has changed so much!

In case you can't see, our shirts all say "Luck of the Hoos"..yes, this was taken to be our christmas card...it's ok to be jealous.

And since I didn't get a chance a take a photo at my family's St. Patrick's Day party/Grandma's birthday...the Bouchers (my mom's family) are Roman Catholic Irish to the core...as in, I used to go to the St. Patrick's Day parade:)...here's a photo of the special shirt purchased for the event!

Hope you are all having a Lucky day:)

Mr. Staples

So if you live or have ever lived in charlottesville...the word Staples means more than an office superstore. The Luck men have a special bond with Staples, the barber shop, since Bob has taken his boys there since they were little....

All this means that is Robert waited until we planned a trip to charlottesville to pay a visit to Staples for little Robert's first haircut. Although I was totally fine with waiting, I had one request...Mr. Staples, the original owner's son, was not allowed to cut my son's hair...I have nothing against the old gentlemen myself, but didn't want his shaky hands near my sons ears! Needless to say, the place was busy that day and Robert claims he had no choice...but you tell me, would you be a little weary of this sweet old man cutting your hair?

This face clearly says...Dad, you must be kidding me...and as a result, they left a bit early...with my son's hair short on the bottom, long on the top...and crooked in the front:)
