a little different

Just in case I needed further confirmation that my sweet boy was ALL BOY and that his wonderful cousin Adelyn was ALL GIRL, this last weekend confirmed their differences...please note how my son approached his birthday cupcake and contrast that with how my adorable niece "attacked" the same one

and no, they aren't twins (clearly), but the brilliant blond hair combined with their mere five week age difference often confuses strangers when we're all together:)

Happy second birthday little man:)

Two short (and very long) years ago, our sweet son changed our lives forever...in every hard, wonderful, fantastic, and hilarious way possible. We are so proud of his accomplishments and the person that he is becoming already and cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for him next!

Let's take a walk down memory lane:

With his namesakes:

At six months..already showing his spirited personality:

Birthday #1 (notice the banner...it's important:)

At 14 months:
16 months:

18 months:

22 months:

24 months:)
Birthday cake (although I couldn't frost it until just before eating...Grandma's buttercream icing is just too good and I figured my son wouldn't appreciate a half eaten cake!)...We were a little unsure, but quickly dove right in!

and the ever present banner (circa 1985...yes, my mom has kept the sweet banner since my sister and I's first years...we love it)

Just in case...

There was ever any doubt that my husband was the fun parent, here's a video to prove it:) And yes, grandmas, he is perfectly safe on daddy's back...it's Sabre that I was a bit more concerned for...

Visitors and the start of a to do list

This past weekend we got to share our home with the Moss family...our wonderful friends from law school, and a family that parallels our own. JD, the daddy, is also a lawyer and rivals my husband in his UVA obsession...Becca, the mommy is confidant to commiserate over what it's like to be a new mom with a husband as a new lawyer, and a UVA fanatic:) Our sons were born April 12th and 14th respectively, although a year apart, so we get to try things out and smooth the way for little Tyler:)
Robert did a good job of sharing his toys, despite the look he's giving Tyler in this photo...as we approach the age of two, we are dealing with a little less sharing and a little more "no, no, this is Robert's toy"...he's still as sweet as ever, but just a bit more "outspoken" if you will.

This weekend was also the Richmond Monument Ave 10K, an while everyone else that we know ran the race, we sat around and worked on our to do list...a list that grows daily despite my self-imposed deadline of July when our little guy #2 arrives and fills our lives with more love (and zaps me of all DIY energy)...

Only because I'm so proud of it, here's my first major To Do finished...my T-shirt quilt. I had been saving old T-shirts that I simply couldn't give away for sentimental reasons but certainly couldn't wear forever in order to create a quilt someday. I snagged as many of Robert's T-shirts as I could (he is VERY reluctant to part with his shirts despite having over forty to choose from) and created this:

The oldest shirt is my first ever basketball jersey from third grade, with high school sports, summer activities and UVA all represented:)
