When I'm sick, my willpower is low, hence the takeout two nights this week.
Sunday: super bowl means no pizza but ordering The Mill instead, whose local focus and delivery are double winners for us.
Monday: Egg, Ham and Spinach Sandwiches on Ciabatta
The Robusto cheese made these so yummy, it's a bit like Gruyere but has a bit of parmesany flavoring...highly recommend.
Tuesday: Chicken Pot Pies
These are complete comfort food, I use an easy recipe base from epicurious
which allows for easy substitution based on whats in the freezer and I often just use pre-made crescent rolls but this week I used Martha's pate brisee and it was super easy and it makes a ton, so I froze two additional portions to use for future pot pies:)
Wednesday: penne with roasted winter vegetables and cream sauce
No recipe just a basic cream sauce plus roasted carrots, broccoli and onion...toss it all with the pasta and scarfed down.
Thursday: Chilis...I'm a sucker for their loaded potato skins
Friday: Robert was in charge of dinner so he made burgers and fries, such a helpful daddy.
Saturday: Butternut squash soup with bacon and apples plus grilled ham and cheese.
Easy easy dinner considering I just reheated up some soup from a few weeks ago...butternut soups are incredibly easy to throw together, and the addition of bacon and apples is a nice surprise and makes it a bit different...tasted just a good heated up.
Next week's meals will be a bit different because we are heading down to south carolina to visit Robert's grandparents, so we'll be eating leftovers and gearing up for the vast amounts of food that will be prepared by Sylvia.
happy eating:)
